Questions & Answers

Chemical

Aerosols are carriers of chemical loads (trichloramine, THM among others) and microbiological loads (e.g. legionella). Risks can be minimized through process optimization and system cleansing.

The WAPOTEC solution:

AOX circumscribes a group of halogen compounds. Wastewater treatment limit values are easily achieved with the WAPOTEC solutions. The following substances are included through the AOX sum parameters:

Bromdichlormethane, Dibromacetonitrile, Dibromchlormethane, trichloroacetic acid, Tribrommethane, dichloroacetic acid, bromochloroacetic acid, bromodichloroacetic acid, Dichloroacetonitrile, dibromochloroacetic acid, choral hydrate, monochloroacetic acid, 1,1-dichloroacetone, monobromoacetic acid, dibromoacetic acid, Trichloronitromethane (chloropicrin), Bromochloroacetonitrile, trichloromethane, 1,1,1- Trichloroacetone, chlorite, trichloroacetonitrile, chlorate.

Employee protection

European chemical and biocide laws aim to reduce the use of dangerous substances and prompt users to prefer low-risk water treatment products and disinfectants instead of hazardous substances. WAPOTEC® offers many non-hazardous alternatives to dangerous chemicals. The new WAPOTEC®Electrolysis Systems have been able to create a name for themselves with their innovative security.

The WAPOTEC solution:

WAPOTEC has been doing research for many years to find efficient and safe products for water treatment and hygiene. WAPOTEC®Electrolysis Systems use pure salt to manufacture chlorine for various uses (for the oxidation of undesirable water contaminants or as a disinfectant). Transportation, handling and storage risks regarding chlorinated products are thereby minimized. Many aspects surrounding employee safety can be considered when planning and upgrading new facilities.

The WAPOTEC solution:

Environmentally

Water, wastewater, energy and chemicals can be saved through optimized treatment – which has direct effects on cost saving.

The WAPOTEC solution:

The number of necessary heating measures needed to maintain a constant temperature of water and air increases with unnecessary rinsing, excessive back feeding of basin water, etc. This is also associated with a high carbon dioxide output. Each water and/or fresh air savings measure automatically reduces the emission of greenhouse gases. Process optimization such as that which is suggested by WAPOTEC can help considerably diminish the harmful emissions. Reduced use of chemical products as well as reduced on-site manufacturing (for example chlorine with WAPOTEC®Electrolysis) diminishes carbon footprint caused by transportation.

The WAPOTEC solution:

Microbiological

Light, air and nutrients promote algae growth. Algae growth can be reduced or even prevented by reducing nutrient supplies by means of flocculation optimization or sedimentation, as long as these nutrients are not released from joint materials and other wall surfaces.

The WAPOTEC solution:

Amoebas are hosts in whom for example legionella – can reproduce while being protected against many disinfection procedures including UV rays. The simplest method to remove amoebas from the water is effective filtration through flocculation and flocculation agents (silicic acid – aluminate). An essential prerequisite for sustainable remediation is freeing the afflicted pipes and equalizing tanks of organic film.

The WAPOTEC solution:

Physical

Sufficient filter bed expansion is imperative for cleaning because the rinsing of flocked substances and coarsely dispersed substances depend on it. Many filter systems are not designed for the required flushing performance and must therefore regularly be chemically cleaned in order to achieve the desired differential pressure of 0 bar/PSI.

Tank hydraulics is responsible for adding disinfectant (free chlorine) to basin water. Uniform chlorine distribution is decisive for the reduction of chlorine substitution product development.

Technological

Flocculation optimization is the most important step towards improving treatment efficiency. Process optimization enables sustainable system operation. Effective processing is made possible by coordinating process steps and adapting to individual needs. As a result, not only is it possible to initiate more environmentally friendly solutions but also to achieve better working conditions and minimize costs.

The WAPOTEC solutions:

Since our foundation in 1976, the WAPOTEC group has always been open to new and innovative ideas. We especially value research and development in order to sustain our new ideas. Numerous patents and trademarks as well as registered brands prove that our company values promising new processes in water treatment and does not just follow trends.
